The Resurrection Makes ALL the Difference!

April 14, 2017

 Mark 16:9–15 (ESV)

9 Now when he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons. 10 She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept. 11 But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they would not believe it. 12 After these things he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country. 13 And they went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them. 14 Afterward he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen. 15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.

It’s Easter week!!!! The Christian Church around the world will be celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ!!!! The resurrection is the cornerstone of our faith…HE IS ALIVE!!!

The resurrection makes ALL the difference! It makes ALL the difference as we face life, and as we face death. It makes ALL the difference in that it gives us hope, and peace, and joy to know that we will one day live forever in the presence of our Lord!!!

Jesus appeared to a variety of individuals after the resurrection and ministered to them in various ways. But, as we read in our text from Mark’s Gospel, some of his closest disciples wouldn’t believe those to whom he had appeared until he appeared to them in person, so he had to rebuke them for their disbelief! I don’t want to be in that crowd…I want to walk in faith in my risen Lord and Savior!!

But, I want to mention one thing about how the resurrection makes all the difference. It makes ALL the difference in our focus. Jesus revealed himself (vs 14a above), he rebuked unbelief ( vs 14b above), and then he turned the focus of his followers to what was on his heart…REACHING A LOST WORLD WITH THE GOOD NEWS!!!! The resurrection should make ALL the difference in our focus. We should not be thinking just about ourselves (because we are going to spend eternity with Jesus if we have a relationship with him), but we should be focused on others BECAUSE HE IS RISEN!!!!!!
