Jeremiah 1:6-8 Then I said, "Ah, Lord God! Truly, I cannot speak, for I am a youth." But the Lord said to me, " Do not say, 'I am a youth.' For you shall go everywhere that I send you, and whatever I command you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces. For I am with you to deliver you," says the Lord.
In this passage, the Lord called Jeremiah to be a prophet and to proclaim repentance to the people of Judah. If you read the whole chapter you can get a glimpse of what it must have been like to know God had chosen Jeremiah to be his mouthpiece to a people who were turning their backs on God. At first Jeremiah was saying in a sense that he was unqualified because he was young. But God reassured Jeremiah that he indeed was the man. He even told Jeremiah that He would put His words in his mouth.
Just like God was with Jeremiah in that time, He is with us as well. He has called us as believers to reach the lost. He has called us to preach the Gospel to all people who do not have a relationship with Christ. This may seem overwhelming and scary at times. We may even feel unqualified, like Jeremiah. However, God promised Jeremiah that He would put His words in his mouth. God will give us the words to say as we trust him and walk in faith. It is a privilege to share Christ with people, and I promise you will be blessed when you open your mouth for Christ.
