Hebrews 9:28 “So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.”
The method of sacrifice was crucifixion. This extreme form of punishment was to make the victim experience the ultimate degree of suffering and pain.
Hebrews 10:19-20 says, “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the House of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”
The critical agent that purifies mankind from their sins is the blood of Jesus Christ. When we repent of our sins and ask Jesus to take up residence in our hearts, Jesus washes away our sins with His blood.
What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
