What are you running to?

March 16, 2017

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.

When you’re tired and trying to get through your day what do you run to? Do you have a certain snack? Do you go get a cup of coffee? Or do you try to push through so you can cross things off your list? Everyone functions a little differently and has their go to solutions. None of these are bad, but there is one solution that we sometime forget at such times.

Many times when we are on a low and dragging through the day we run to (fill in the blank), but what if we ran to God first. In Isaiah 40:28-29 says, “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” The Lord does not get tired or weary, He has continuous strength. I hate to say it, but your energy drink or cup of coffee is going to run dry and that chocolate bar, well, is not going to last forever.

So before you run to the cupboard, the cup of coffee, or whatever your go to, take a moment and ask the Lord for renewed strength. Isaiah 40:31, “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.”
