Hope for the weary Soul
"…I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” -Matthew 28:20b
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, i will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” Psalm 23:4-6
Are you weary? Are you struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel? Are your fears and failures clouding your every move? Do you wonder where that sweet savor of the quiet waters with the Lord have gone? Are you weary, dear christian?
Do not despair! Be of good cheer, for you are not alone. Though you may be in the trenches, fighting a battle you can no longer remember why you are fighting, you are not alone. Though the light has seemed to disappear from the end of the tunnel, you are not alone! God is with you every step of the way. It is up to you to recognize Him. The trouble I find myself falling into is believing He is there. The enemy of our souls wants us to believe that we are alone and forgotten. That we must "find God" as if He has journeyed on without us. This is not the truth. You don’t need to find Him, for He is not lost! He is a good shepherd, and he loves us. He promises He is with us, even though we "walk through the valley of the shadow of death". How encouraging that is! But do you believe it? How often does the weary christian come to the well to drink of the wellspring of life, and yet does not believe that he will receive anything from the life giver? How often are you waiting in His presence and seeking Him, expectantly?
He offers it freely..
Isaiah 55:6 says, “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the water, and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come buy wine and milk without money and without price.”
What is the price of His presence? Nothing. He fills us just because we are His own. Just because we are bought by the precious blood of Jesus. Just because He loves us. Now is the time to believe. To shake off the heavy weights that tell us that we are alone in the trenches but say instead we are not alone, we have the captain and commander along side of us. He is the reason we are fighting, because the trenches are merely a means to the eternity where we will have no more sorrow or pain, and forever be with our Savior. Oh until that day! Be encouraged that your fight is worth it, you are worth it, and you are loved. Be encouraged by these scriptures.
"I would have lost heart, unless I had BELIEVED that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!" Psalm 27:13-14
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. i will strengthen you, Yes I will help you. I will uphold you with My righteous hand.” Isaiah 41.10
