Are You Easy to Pray For?

Ephesians 1:15–21 (ESV)

15 For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, 16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

As a pastor, I pray for a lot of people, and if the truth be told some of those people are a lot easier to pray for than others! Not that I don’t want to pray for each and every person in need, but there are people who just make praying a real joy!!!

I guess the Apostle Paul felt the same way as I read this passage from his letter to the Church at Ephesus. He opens our passage by saying that since they have such a genuine faith in Christ, and such a sincere love towards the believers that he is thankful for them, and also that he is motivated to pray for them. So how simple is that? You and I can make ourselves easy to pray for by simply walking in faith towards Christ and love towards other believers!!!

Not only will we prove to be easy to pray for through these two simple things, but we will also be candidates for the things Paul prays for as he lifts up this Church before the Lord. Wouldn’t you like more of the Holy Spirit’s presence filling you with wisdom and revelation so you can grow in Christ in amazing ways? Wouldn’t you like to have spiritual eyes that are wide open to the riches and lavish inheritance we have in Christ? Wouldn’t you like to know the amazing power revealed in the resurrection of our Lord Jesus working in your life? Of course, our answers to these questions would be yes!!! So, the simple answer would be trust Christ with all your heart and love those who love him with a fervent heart and watch what God will do. You may find that there will be a lot of people praying for you!
