For many years, I thought it was possible to live out my faith in a complacent manner. I may have even thought it was respectable to live in a way that didn’t cause waves. This was absolutely wrong and I was deceived. The Bible clearly warns us that we are in a battle.
“The thief (the devil) comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10
This is not a joke. He is out to defeat us in any sneaky way he can. But, if we belong to Jesus and are submitted to Him, we have the power to defeat Satan’s schemes.
About a year ago, God called me to be a warrior. I knew I could no longer be a complacent Christian. God had been strengthening me as I read the Word, prayed and worshipped, and I wasn’t even fully aware of how much He had been working in me. But, as I faced a major life crisis, I was awakened to a situation that required me to fight.
“Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:12
“Not by might, not by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts.” Zechariah 4:6
We can be equipped by God to fight spiritual battles. If you are feeling as if you are defeated, oppressed, depressed, weary, or complacent, know that God can help you to overcome. It is Christ’s victory that enables us to have victory in our lives and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to walk through the fire of this life.
Read about the full armor of God in Ephesians 6:10-18. Think about what you are reading and ask God to reveal truth to you about these verses. We will continue to focus on becoming a warrior next Tuesday.
