Wait for Him
Scripture: Hebrews 9:28 “So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.” Throughout the Bible there are many references to people going to Heaven.
I Peter 5:4 Also supports there being a reward, “And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.”
In Hebrews 9:28 The New International Version, the people who will make this transformation and go with Him are described as “waiting for Him.” In the King James Version, they are described as “they that look for Him.”
Paul wrote in his first letter to Corinth, I Corinthians 15:51-52 “Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep (die), but we will all be changed – in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.”
If you can not be described at this moment as someone waiting and looking for the return of the Lord, I encourage to follow Paul’s instructions to the Romans in Romans 10:8-13 to have a conversation with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. A conversation that comes from the heart. “But what does it say? The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame. For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile – the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for, everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Many reading this devotion have accepted Jesus as Savior. You are waiting and looking for the coming of the Lord. Take this moment in your conversation with God to ask for compassion and wisdom to be a witness to your family and friends to receive Jesus as Savior.
